    BDP2012 Fact Sheet
    • Dates: Games start on Thursday 21 June 2012 at 5 PM and finish on Sunday 24 June at 7 PM.Portuguese fishing boat at sunset
    • Setup: The Bar do Peixe Beach Ultimate Tournament is a co-ed hat tournament. We have space for 84 men and 60 women. At the start of the tournament everybody's name is put in a hat (or sangria jar) and the teams are chosen in a weighted random way to create fairly equal teams. Men and women play on the same team.
    • Registration, draw, and waiting list: The tournament is open to 144 players but there are usually more players interested. Registration will stay open until January 31. Then a draw will be made a few weeks later. The lucky players have 3 weeks to make the tournament fee transfer. If registered players do not pay before that time, the positions will be filled by players on the waiting list.
    • Location The fields are on the beach at 'Praia do Moinho de Baixo' (also referred to as Praia do Meco, but that is not 100% correct) which is about 30 km south of Lisbon. The place is absolutely stunning! Lots of beach, close to a lagoon etc... If you haven't been yet, there are lots of good memories from previous years
    • Accommodations: From Wednesday 20 June to Monday 25 June you are welcome at Camping 'Repouso' near Lagoa de Albufeira, which is about 1 hour walk from the fields. (but don't worry, games do not start until 2 pm!). So bring your tent and sleeping bag. For people with kids... we hope they like camping ;-)
    • Food: We will supply the players with bread, fruit, jam, peanut butter, cheese, ham, eggs, orange juice and water in the morning. The players can make their own lunch from this. The bar on the beach also serves food and great seafood! The tournament fees also includes dinners every night. Mind you, this is usually not before midnight...
    • Costs:
      1. Player fee: 50 euros
      2. Non-player fee: 30 euros
      3. Dinners (2 dinners minimum): 20 euros each (Dinner on Sunday is not organized)
      4. Lunch and breakfast: 5 euros per day
      5. Camping: 5 euros per day
For example: if you stay for the whole BDP experience and you arrive Wednesday afternoon/early evening and you leave Monday morning/afternoon, you pay for 4 dinners (=4x20 = 80 euros) + 4 breakfasts/lunches (no Monday breakfast) (=4x5 = 20 euros) + 5 nights camping (=5x5 = 25 euros) + players fee (=50 euros) = 175 euros. The sixth night of partying is Monday night after the tournament and will be in Lisbon. No prepayment needed for that.

The minumum fee is when you decide to sleep somewhere else. Then you only have to pay Players Fee + 2 x dinner = 90 euros

You will have to pay in advance. Refunds will not be made. If we find a player to take the place of someone that cancelled, that player will have to send the the registration fee to the player that cancelled.
    • Transportation: There will be pick-ups at the airport on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. We will also have shuttle busses between the field and the campsite. Please note that there is no organized transportation scheduled for Sunday night! (...Hotel California...;-) However, the local taxi company will gladly take you to your destination.
Click to EnlargeIf you prefer, renting a car is about 60 euros per day. It is usually cheaper to arrange car rentals outside of Portugal. Just ask your travel agent.
    • Public transport There's transportation of TST from Lisboa (Praça de Espanha) to Sesimbra (bus 207) and then from Sesimbra you can catch bus 223 (same company) to Aldeia do Meco or 240 to Lagoa de Albufeira. From their you need to ask for Bar do Peixe (in Meco) or Camping Repouso (in Lagoa). The company's site: www.tsuldotejo.pt
    • Directions: For those who rent cars, travel alone, or get lost; print out the BDP directions page

    • Things to bring:
      • Tent, sleeping bag, and other camping gear
      • Hammock instead of a tent (for the adventurers ;-)
      • Suit and tie or Fancy dress (For Fridays's Formal pickup game)
      • Warm clothes for at night (it is amazing how cold it can get at night...)
      • Two pairs of good socks to play in. Make sure they fit tightly so no sand can get in, and make sure they don't wear out quickly. The sand is rough on the feet/socks.
      • Dark and light T-shirt
      • Suntan lotion. It is hot out there!
      • A hat or cap to avoid sunstroke
      • Beach towel. The sea is very tempting...
    • Parties: Of course! The party at Bar do Peixe will be on the official openings night: Thursday night. Unorganized parties are scheduled for every night (Wednesday night through Monday night!)
    • Rules: The Bar do Peixe Beach Ultimate Tournament is played under the official BULA 5-on-5 rules
    • Spirit of the Game: We highly believe in the Spirit of the Game and we will be awarding an award for the best spirited team.
